Tenuta Garetto Grignolino d'Asti, 2019

The Gagliardo family acquired the Tenuta Garetto winery in 2017. The winery is located in Agliano Terme, a very well-known and recognized spot for Barbera. The winery is in the heart of the new Nizza DOCG appellation of Monferrato. Grignolino gets its name from the Italian for “many pips” or seeds which explains this grape’s tannic nature. This of course carries through to the wine which is light to medium bodied, acidic, fruity, and even floral or herbaceous. This may just be Emily’s new go-to bottle for a summer red. Light in color but so much character!
