Graci Etna Rosso, 2017

Alberto Aiello Graci remains steadfast in his respect for local traditions, as well as the distinct nature of each vintage. He only cultivates traditional varieties indigenous to Mount Etna: the red grapes Nerello Mascalese (featured in this bottle) and Nerello Cappuccio, and the white grapes Carricante and Catarratto. Intervention of any kind is extremely limited, both in the vineyard and in the cellar.

With another high score from Wine Enthusiast, this one is ready to please. “Radiant and fragrant, this beautiful wine opens with mesmerizing aromas of rose petal, perfumed berries, Mediterranean scrub and graphite. All about energy and finesse, the delicious, focused palate features raspberry compote, blood orange, star anise and tangy mineral. Polished tannins provide lithe, elegant support while bright acidity keeps it well-balanced. –Kerin O’Keefe”

Etna Rosso is a lovely medium-bodied red with great tannic structure. Who doesn’t love a Sicilian red!
