Domaine Lucien Crochet Sancerre, 2019

Monsieur Picard was one of the very first growers in the Sancerre district to begin bottling his wines and selling them primarily to restaurants in Paris. Lucien Crochet, Picard’s son-in-law, later took over the domaine and expanded it to it’s current size of 38 hectares. The vineyards are almost all located in the village of Bué with smaller holdings in the neighboring villages of Vinon and Crézancy. The domaine mainly produces Sauvignon Blanc, providing grapes for this bottle, but it also produces Pinot Noir.

This Sancerre is one of Emily’s all-time favorite wines. 100% Sauvignon Blanc, you’ll find it carries through the grape’s classic flavors: green apple and pear, lemon & grapefruit citrus notes, and grassy aromas. It perfectly balances this with refreshing dryness and only moderate acidity.

If Em had it her way, this bottle would be paired with just a lawn chair and some sunshine! If you’re looking for a good food pairing, pour this bottle alongside your next cheese board. For a meal, match this with lighter dishes and proteins – chicken, pork, or turkey.
