Tenuta Baroni Campanino Umbria Intenso, 2019
This delightful red comes from the central Unbrian region of Italy. The Baroni Campanino estate is situated high among the slopes of Monte Subasio and actually grows the highest altitude sangiovese in the world. They also grow organically. While most think of Chianti when they hear sangiovese, this single-varietal bottle offers a slightly different take on what could be considered the quintessential Italian red. Very dry, this wine carries plenty of red and black fruit flavors and lots of depth. Sharp and acidic, try pairing alongside rich dishes: browned butter gnocchi, a pork roast, or even an indulgent salad with marinated olives and plenty of good olive oil.
