Celebrating Four Years of The Genny Albany
In June, the Genny Albany will turn FOUR. It is hard to believe that much time has passed since we opened the doors to this beautiful space. We would compare the addition of our Albany location to that of a second child; meant to be, and Holy Sh**T how are we going to manage all of this! But now, four years later, we could not imagine Albany not being part of The Genny Family. This last year our sweet village store became profitable, and that is 100% because of the dedication of our staff. Alex Pitt and Reggie Shatney stepped into management roles. While both men are young, they have proven that through great customer service and consistent delicious food, we can be a success. The familiar faces of Marianna and Jeanne out front and Chris cooking away in the back are our secret sauce. And for those of you who don’t know our “Wiz of the Genny” Chris Erickson, he is responsible for all things behind the scenes. He does our receiving, price analysis, database management, and runs a heck of a cribbage tournament. These folks and our loyal customers are what make the Genny Albany. Whether it is Jeremy coming in for his morning coffee, or Gary ordering up his egg and cheese sandwich, Cheyenne rolling in to say hi and maybe grabbing a smashburger, our over-the-counter chats with Mary after her bus route, or Jan calling to see what we have for casseroles. This is the alchemy that keeps us engaged and excited.
Last year, we committed to digging into our community, and for our Albany location that meant adding programming that would bring folks together. Our community room now hosts monthly events ranging from Paint ‘n’ Sips to the ever popular Cribbage tournament. We also have a weekly dance class for kids and adults at the town hall, and are planning a weekly yoga class starting in May. Our summer music series will kick off June 6th and run through September.
And of course, none of this would be possible without our dear friends at The Albany Community Trust. We cannot say enough how supported we have felt by this organization. At every turn ACT has been willing to help us problem solve, brainstorm, and adapt to changing circumstances. Without them, none of this would have been possible. The Genny Tenny is coming up on Memorial Day Weekend and all proceeds from this will benefit ACT.
